Chocolate Salami

Among the many sweet specialties that fill the pages of cuisine made ​​in Italy, there’s without a doubt a special and deserved place for the irresistible chocolate salami. A dessert known by several misleading names (Turkish salami, Viking, the Pope or English sausage) but in reality this delicacy seems to have Portuguese or Italian origins, although there are no certainties in this regard, but we know that it is a recipe that is still relatively “young”, born not more than a century ago.

Tasty and nutritious, composed mostly of chocolate and biscuits, well-known in the Belpaese with its sausage shape, while overturning the basic idea. Moreover, the recipe is quite easy to make, it does not require many ingredients and you do not even need an oven to prepare it. A delicious dessert that is now very widespread throughout Italy, often associated with the holidays without being tied to one in particular. It can however, be used on any occasion as it is very easy to prepare and has a guaranteed effect. Here is the recipe for this gourmand specialty.

Ingredients

200 g of butter or margarine at room temperature

200 g of sugar

200 g of grated chocolate

2 Beaten eggs

400 g of corn biscuits or traditional dry biscuits

Preparation

Combine butter and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then add the cocoa and stir constantly making sure that it does not solidify too much. Then, remove the mixture from heat, transfer to a bowl and add the eggs, stirring quickly so they do not cooked. Meanwhile, in another bowl crush the biscuits, dividing them into pieces of different sizes. Combine the two mixtures and mix well. Transfer the dough on a sheet of aluminum giving it a cylindrical shape (like a sausage), cover with plastic wrap and twist it closed, then store it in the freezer for a few hours so that it hardens. Once ready, cut into slices and serve. If you do not consume all of it, put it in the freezer to preserve best.
